As we compare Colossians 3 with Philemon 1 we see an application of the Gospel to two men's lives. How did the transformation of Philemon's and Onesimus' hearts lead to radical reconciliation that displayed the glorification of God? While the gospel isn't written out in the book of Philemon we do see the gospel lived out in a way that can change the most conflicted of relationships in our lives.

As we jump back into Colossians we find Paul drawing to a world changing conclusion. When we exalt Jesus we begin to look and live like Jesus! Avoiding Chaotic Currents of Culture

After establishing the Exaltation of Jesus in Chapter 1, Paul moves on to help the Colossians establish themselves in Christ. The Colossians were in a community that was at risk of being swept away in the trends of gnosticism, legalism, and humanism. Paul uses an early church song in this passage to declare an eternal and central truth about Jesus. He is preeminent! Jesus is fully God and has made Himself manifest to us in a way that displays His place over creation, inspires our work as the Church, and fuels our individual purpose. His preeminence gives us reason to worship, desire to work, and a story to bear witness about. The question is not whether or not Jesus is preeminent. The question today is are we living in His preeminence?

God’s plan from the beginning of time to the end of time has been for Jesus to be the Savior of the world. The world waited for the Savior that would fulfill our needs as prophet, priest, and king. The thread of Jesus as Savior is woven throughout time and history. The question this Christmas is whether you have received this salvation in your life.

Today, we read through Psalm 24 and understand the gravity and intensity behind the exalted King of Glory. When the Wise men knelt in worship, they did so with gifts fit for a King. Can we respond to His presence in the same way and live a life of worship to the King of Glory?

Our Promised Prophet

Today we celebrate the advent of our Promised Prophet. Prophets spoke throughout the Old Testament to give God's word to Israel and to lead them in God's way. God told Moses that one day the Promised Prophet would come and be greater than he. Today, we see how Jesus not only answered the prophecies, but answered the position as the Promised Prophet.

How much of you needs to be renewed?

Why is abiding in Jesus so important? What is the endgame? It may be shocking to come to the realization that our personal salvation makes up only a little percentage of the content of the New Testament. Most of what Paul, James, Peter, and John write about centers around our need to be renewed after salvation. This is a process we refer to as sanctification. Today, we look at Ephesians 4 and ask the question, "How much of you needs to be renewed"?

Jesus calls us to abide in Him. One of the main ways we are to do this is through our relationship with the Word of God. But we can't have a healthy relationship with the Word of God if we can't trust the Word of God. Today we will learn from Dr. Daniel Wallace's study of New Testament manuscripts to see if we can trust in what we have today. The Word and its message has been preserved amazingly for thousands of years. There is no other ancient book for it to be compared to and no other message that can change history as it has. This is a book we can trust and abide in!

When Debt and Life get reconciled

What do we do with what we have? The truth that Proverbs reveals is that the minority of the world controls the majority of wealth. And we use that to get drunk on idols and become even more in debt and enslaved to sin while the rest of the world starves in want. But it’s not too late to respond to the grace offered by Proverbs and the grace offered by the one true wise King Jesus. When we are reconciled, our hearts are at peace and our money and lives are used for His fulfilling purpose! Is it time we exchange our debt for abundant life in Him?

The Gospel Lived Out

What is the book of Romans about? Paul's life. What was Paul's life about? Living out the Gospel of Jesus to the world. Paul wraps up  his letter to the Romans  with a call to follow his life as he follows the life of Jesus. Paul directly challenges the Church at Rome to become partners with him in the Gospel of Jesus. As we finish reading the book of Romans together, we have to ask ourselves - are we living out the book of Romans together? What are our lives about?

Transformative Gospel Lives and Politics

Many of us live trapped in the sin cycle of Romans 7 when we were meant to live in the life and peace of Romans 8.  What does it take to grow in our spiritual walk and stop walking circles in the wilderness?  Paul says it’s the subtle shift of the mind.  We are made walk in the Spirit, live in the Spirit, and set our minds on the Spirit.  The Holy Spirit changes everything!
